Purito Sea Buckthorn Vital 70 Cream Review

Updated: Oct 24, 2020

I really hope my mom doesn’t read this review or I'll get in trouble for complaining. When I was a little kid growing up in Russia, we spent the summers on our dacha (seasonal home out in the country, no heat or AC but all the beauty of nature). A huge sea buckthorn tree thrived close to the house. The small berries (smaller than a blueberry) grow very close to the branches and are fragile, plus there are small spiky pieces of the branch that aren’t exactly pleasant. The berry juice is bright orange and sticky. All of this makes “harvesting” the fruit quite tricky and time consuming. Take a wild guess whose job it was to gather the berries (at least the ones low enough for a kid to reach)? Um… yeah. It definitely was NOT my favorite part of summers. But my mom, being a wise woman that she is, knew how amazingly healing sea buckthorn oil is, so every year we got our fingers and hands orange with the berry juice and then she made the fruit into an oil for the colder seasons to take internally. Sea buckthorn berries contain more than 190 nutrients and phytonutrients and are naturally high in vitamin C; the oil has many internal and topical benefits.

I love Purito brand for the natural and safe ingredients (all are green level/safe on the Environmental Working Group’s database). This Sea Buckthorn Vital 70 Cream is made for people with sensitivities who want to fight pigmentation while nourishing the skin. It is 20-free, which means it’s made without parabens, mineral oils, paraffin, colorants, ethanol, triethanolamine, benzophenone, phthalates, formaldehyde, BHT and other controversial ingredients.

The cream is available on eBay and Amazon.

Active Ingredients:

  • Vitamin A - lifting

  • Vitamin E - protects and regenerates the skin

  • Vitamin C - evens out skin tone and has an anti-aging effect

  • Vitamin D - improves skin’s defenses

  • Vitamin B - soothes

  • Vitamin K - anti-aging

  • Sea buckthorn fruit extract (70%) - healing, nourishing and anti-aging

  • Macadamia seed oil - moisturizing

  • Niacinamide - anti-aging and pigmentation lightening properties

How to use:

  1. Cleanse and tone the face

  2. Apply serums/ampoules/lotions as you normally would

  3. Apply the Purito sea buckthorn cream

The cream can be used morning and night. Feel free to apply an extra thick layer before bed as a sleeping mask a few times a week. Purito manufactures its products in small batches based on demand, using the most natural ingredients that they can. Because of this, it is best to store the cream in the fridge.

My impressions:

I am sensitive to vitamin C serums (they make my fair skin uncomfortably red and warm), but this cream does not cause any negative reactions for me. Even though I’m not a natural redhead, my skin is very fair and freckled. I have made peace with the freckles a long time ago, but I wouldn’t want them to grow and merge into age spots. This cream does a good job at lightening and keeping them in check. Since there are no ingredients that could make the skin more sensitive to the sun, the cream is safe to use all year.

The texture is creamy without being greasy. A little bit goes a long way here, so I apply sparingly. The scent is absolutely divine and is easily my favorite part of using this cream. It smells light and citrusy - love it! Because the cream is highly moisturizing, I prefer to use it at night now that it’s spring. I had samples of it in the winter and used them in the morning just fine, but in the summer I prefer lighter day products for my combination skin (oily t-zone and dry-to-normal cheeks). I wake up with a fresh, bright, moisturized and nourished face. The cream is available on eBay and Amazon.
