I’m way too spoiled when it comes to kbeauty and often have a hard time picking what to try next. Every once in a while, a product stands out and grabs my attention. Bewants Cica Collagen Lifting Cream, available on Jolse, is one of those products.
The marketing materials feature a very depressing “20s, the period when your skin slowly begins aging”... Umm, thanks? I just turned 34, I guess things are hopeless for me now. They continue to promise lovely but unrealistic results of visible lifting and line reduction after one minute of use. All of this made me laugh, but that doesn’t automatically mean it’s a bad product. I’ve seen countless misguided marketing efforts over the years, and many times the products are just fine.
How to use (instructions from the marketing materials)
[Jawline] - Centre your fingers of each hand on your chin. Then massage starting from your chin to your ear in an upward motion.
[Laugh lines] - Grab nostrils with your fingers and sweep out and up toward hairlines.
[Forehead & eyebrow lines] - Place your fingers between your eyebrows and move them up towards the hairline.
I tried applying this cream in a couple of ways - squeezing the tube until I see the cream start to come out around the roller, then rolling it directly onto the skin or scooping the cream off and applying as usual with fingers, then using the roller for a quick massage. I prefer the second method, because it allows me to get the cream everywhere - the nose, chin, etc - where the roller will not go.
Bewants Cica moisturizer has a gel-like consistency, a mild smell, and a slightly tacky / sticky finish that eventually goes away. I use this only at night, and my face is never sticky in the morning. However, I am not sure how this would behave under sunscreen / during the day.
My impressions
I have combination skin with some fine lines. I most definitely chose this because of the packaging. And that part didn’t disappoint - the roller is sturdy and well made, and massaging it over the skin feels great. I can feel my tight muscles relax at the end of a hard, long day.
The marketing claims make me roll my eyes. Let’s not confuse lifting with lymphatic drainage. Lymphatic massage can feel fantastic and make the face appear instantly slimmer (aka less puffy), but it’s not a permanent lift. It’s very unlikely to do anything significant for the double chin or jowls.
I have mixed opinions on this product overall. The formula isn’t bad, but it’s not life changing, and I wouldn’t get out of my way to get it again. Packaged any other way, Bewants Cica Collagen Lifting Cream would likely not stand out to me at all. The roller definitely adds some interest and skintertainment, with a bit of a lymphatic drainage benefit. But what will happen to all that metal once the cream is out? Will it just go to the garbage bin?
Final thoughts - the Bewants cream is interesting and has its benefits. However, I personally would have preferred a formula with more realistic marketing claims packaged in a more easily recyclable way with a fully reusable metal roller “on the side”. Maybe as a little gift set? We are all unique, and this just may be your next holy grail; but it’s not mine.
