Glow Recipe Plum Plump Hyaluronic Serum Review

Updated: Mar 23, 2021

It finally happened - I got my hands on a full-size Glow Recipe product. I’ve been intrigued by this eye-catching brand for months, but never quite got around to purchasing. Imagine my excitement when I was offered to be one of the first people to try their new Glow Recipe Plum Plump Hyaluronic Serum - before it was even released for sale! It’s available for purchase on* Glow Recipe website.

This plum serum promises to hydrate and visibly plump up the skin, improving hydration levels and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Fun fact - I was part of the consumer study the brand mentions that reported 100% of subjects agreed their skin felt hydrated after just one day of this product.

How to use:

  • Apply after toner / essence onto damp face and neck

  • Pat in, follow with moisturizer

I’ve heard that Glow Recipe products can often be incredibly fragranced, however the Plum Plump Serum has a very light, berry aroma that I enjoy. It’s not overwhelming by any means and contributes to the overall experience of using the serum. The texture is gel-like - it absorbs well and isn’t sticky.

My impressions

I have always wondered if Glow Recipe products were nothing but pretty packaging and hype, but tried to keep an open mind when it came to testing this Plum Plump Serum.

I have combination skin with some early lines (especially on the forehead) - I just turned 31 this Summer. If my face gets dehydrated, the nose becomes super oily, and the forehead lines become very deep (and also oily). For years I thought I needed to fight oil with “fire” (aka drying alcohol), but now I know that proper hydration takes care of the root cause.

I’ve been using the Glow Recipe Plum Plump serum twice a day for close to 3 weeks now. For once, I know the exact dates since I was part of that early consumer study. I have noticed very positive differences in my skin. The lines on the forehead have softened, my skin is smooth and plump to the touch, I have no oily and no dry spots.

While packaging does nothing for the potency of its contents, it’s definitely a very nice touch. I’m in awe at the amazing design of this product, including the lovely box (which has plums printed all the way inside, too). I usually toss the cardboard boxes right away, but I kept his one as it’s just so beautiful. Every little detail is carefully thought out. The entire package is recyclable, including the pump which can be sent back to Glow Recipe to go through their TerraCycle® program.

Overall, I’m very pleased. The texture is exactly whatI love in a serum - not runny, not sticky, very nice feeling. The scent is there, but not overwhelming. I don’t avoid fragrance, but if there is an unscented version, I typically go for that. The packaging makes me giddy like a three year old with mermaid lip gloss - I’m totally a child at heart.

Is it worth the price tag? That’s up to each person. There are more budget friendly serums out there, but they do not look or feel this luxurious. Many are also not vegan.
