Haruharu WONDER Centella A.C.E. Vitaful Miracle Healing Multi Balm came to me inside Stylevana’s advent calendar, and I was quite excited to try it. The marketing materials promise to replenish moisture to the skin, nourish, and revitalize. The star ingredients are centella asiatica, olive oil, and seaberry (Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Extract).

The balm is sold on Amazon, YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT), and Stylevana (code INF10KBH).

How to use

  • Apply to any area in need of hydration

  • Can be used over makeup and on the hair

The balm is much larger / wider than most products of this type. I smell a bit of shea butter if I hold the product directly to my nose.

My impressions

This thing is unusable. A long time ago, in my life before kids and skincare blogs, I used to make my own lip balms. The base recipe is simple - beeswax, shea butter, cocoa butter, plus additives of choice. The only tricky part is getting the proportions right. Too many fats and oils and the balms would be too soft and not hold their shape. Too much beeswax and they wouldn’t melt on the lips or be pleasant to use.

The Haruharu Wonder Balm feels like one of those homemade balms with entirely too much wax. It doesn’t melt well at all! I planned on using it after moisturizer for some “targeted slugging” under the eyes before bed. The weather is cold and dry, so I like to seal in some moisture before bed. However, the sheer amount of tugging and pushing required to get any of the balm on the skin cannot be good for the delicate eye area. I’ve tried applying it to the elbows and knees, where the skin can take a lot more friction and pressure, but again - it just will NOT melt! I keep the house at 69F, and we’ve had a fairly warm winter so far (it only snowed once), so I do not think ambient temperature is to blame here.

Typically, I really like Haruharu. However, between this unusable stick and the cleansing oil that burned my eyes, what is happening with the brand? I am in desperate need of a Haruharu palate cleanser.
