KLAVUU Green Pearlsation PHA Calming Serum Review

This post contains affiliate links. Product provided by Oshen Skin.

Who likes summer? Definitely not me. I get sunburnt super quickly, dislike sweating, and my combination skin starts its own little oil factory when it’s warm outside. I was pretty excited to get KLAVUU's Green Pearlsation PHA Calming Serum (unboxing video here), because it promises to gently exfoliate, calm, and help remove excess sebum. The serum is available on Oshen Skin, and you can save on your order with my code KBHOBBIT10.

This clear, gel-like serum features tea tree extract, a special green complex of plant ingredients, pearl, and a gently exfoliating PHA. It also includes centella asiatica, a well known skin soothing component great for sensitivities and redness. A full list of ingredients is provided at the end of the review.

How to use:

  • Apply to clean skin after toner

  • Gently pat in

  • Follow with the rest of your routine

KLAVUU PHA Serum is colorless and has a pretty noticeable tea tree scent. The aroma doesn't last long and in general doesn’t bother me at all. The product is easily absorbed by my skin and isn’t heavy or sticky, which is much more important to me than scent.

My impressions

I’ve been using this serum regularly for several weeks. I started with just once a week to see how my skin does, then increased to 2-3 times a week. It’s possible to use it more often, but I see a benefit with this frequency, so I stuck with it. The biggest thing I noticed is the reduction in sebaceous filaments on the nose and cheek area. Sebaceous filaments are those pesky little black dots that are often mistaken for blackheads. There is no benefit to extracting them since they are part of normal skin function and always come back. But products such as this PHA serum can help minimize their appearance.

I have also found an off-label use for the KLAVUU serum that’s even more exciting. I’ve been struggling with ingrown hair and resulting hyperpigmentation on my legs (well, one leg - the other one is completely covered in a tattoo sleeve, so you can’t see any issues). Since the bottle is generously sized and it only takes a little bit of serum to spread over a large area, I’ve been applying it to my legs every few days. I’m happy to report that I have fewer new ingrown hairs and the existing marks are also fading. This isn’t the only product I’m using, but I definitely see an added benefit after introducing it to my body care routine.

Overall, it’s a great gentle exfoliating product that should work for all skin types. Of course, start slowly and patch test to be sure.
