Kose Clear Turn Essence Mask 30 pcs - Tranexamic Acid Review

While Korean skincare will always be my first love, I can also appreciate Japanese products. This year I’ve been making an effort to get to know the jbeauty scene a bit better. Kose Clear Turn Essence Masks caught my eye because of their unique packaging - each box contains 30 masks. It is both cute and less wasteful than individually packaged sheet masks.

The masks come in several varieties - vitamin C, collagen, etc. and are available on YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT), Stylevana (code INF10KBH), and Amazon. I chose Tranexamic Acid, because that’s the latest buzzword when it comes to hyperpigmentation.

I have combination skin that’s very fair and prone to freckles. People often think that my red hair (a result of henna) is natural, because I have the kind of skin that redheads typically do. And while I don’t mind and actually enjoy some freckles, I don’t want them to start blending into age spots.

The tranexamic acid variety promises to prevent or slow down the formation of melanin to help with the appearance of discoloration. From my research on the ingredient, it can take quite a bit of time to work, so having a daily mask sounded like a good idea.

How to use:

  • Cleanse the skin and use toner

  • Pull out one mask from the container, apply to the face with the eye “flaps” facing out

  • If desired, close your eyes and fold the eye flaps up to cover the eyelid area (I personally don’t do that)

  • Keep on for 5-10 minutes

  • Remove, pat in the essence, and follow with the rest of your routine

The mask material isn’t the softest I’ve ever had, but it still works fine. The essence is watery and not sticky. I often use a thicker serum afterwards and then move on to moisturizer. I don’t notice a scent.

My impressions

I like these. I don’t use one every single day, because there are some other sheet masks I like as well. I’m pleased to say that the essence hasn’t dried out at all, even though I’ve had my box opened for over a month.

I do notice a slight brightening of the skin, and my pigmentation is less noticeable. I can’t attribute the results to a single product, since I use other ingredients to help even the skin tone - I have a whole video about that here, but still I feel like things are better after introducing these masks. Another benefit of Kose Clear Turn Essence Mask is added hydration.

I also enjoy the convenient packaging and wouldn’t mind trying other varieties. Have you tried any of these masks?
