Mary & May Centella Asiatica Serum Review

This post contains affiliate links. Product provided by Oshen Skin.

Mary & May Centella Asiatica Serum is made with 95% centella to soothe irritation, improve elasticity, and help with breakouts. Minimal ingredients (only 7), no fragrance and no alcohol make this a potentially great choice for people with sensitive skin. It’s available on Oshen Skin (use my code KBHOBBIT10 for a discount).

How to use:

  • Apply to clean face and neck after toner

  • Gently pat in

  • Follow with the rest of your routine (moisturizer, etc)

The serum has a pretty thick, gel consistency and I don’t think the dropper packaging is the best here. A pump bottle or even a tube would have been much better, because it sort of plops out from the dropper and it often takes me more than one try to get enough out. I do not notice a scent (the serum is fragrance free, but that doesn’t always mean scent-free). There is no stickiness.

My impressions

I have combination skin with some oily and some dry/normal areas. It’s not sensitive but it is reactive, meaning too much friction causes redness, and I do still get occasional breakouts. For those reasons, I like to keep at least one soothing product on hand to deal with any redness and irritation as soon as they happen.

My skin has given me plenty of opportunities to assess Mary & May Centella Asiatica Serum’s soothing capabilities - I’ve had several breakouts recently, plus a healing scratch (thank you, toddler, I love you too). It’s a pleasure to apply - the gel spreads easily and doesn’t drip anywhere. It layers beautifully over toners and watery essences, and isn’t sticky under moisturizers. I mostly use this at night, but it can work in the morning as well.

By morning, I notice reduced redness. I also think this serum speeds up breakout healing. While I don’t recommend applying skincare over open “wounds” (or popped pimples, scratches, etc), I was pleasantly surprised that this didn’t sting my toddler scratches. Overall, a great product - my only gripe is the packaging.
