I’m currently in one of those “I think I want long hair” stages, so hair care is more important than ever. My hair is fine, thin, and stick straight. I have to comb it before drying or it’s a tangled mess, but wet hair is also very vulnerable. To combat damage, I reach for hair serums to help detangle and provide much needed slip. Mise en scéne is an iconic, affordable haircare brand, so I decided to try their Perfect Serum Watery version from Jolse.

Mise en scéne Perfect Serum Watery

How to use

  • Apply to clean, towel-dried hair

  • Can also be used on the ends when hair is dry

The serum is made with a blend of oils including coconut, argan, camellia, jojoba, apricot, olive, and birrea. Despite these nourishing ingredients, it doesn’t feel heavy or oily. I apply it from ear level to the ends before blow drying.

My impressions

I absolutely adore the Mise en scéne Damage Care Perfect Serum, and the watery version is just as good but in a different way. Both make my hair feel silky smooth without weighing it down. The watery serum is more liquid / thin in my palms, but feels very similar to the damage care version once applied. To me, both formulas are interchangeable other than the scent.

The Watery serum has a fresh, citrus aroma while the original is described as a fruity floral. The scents alone would be enough for me to keep buying these serums - they smell so nice and expensive without a huge price tag. These don’t last very long after application, so they don’t interfere with my perfume. But they feel amazing during application and while I blow dry the hair.

I’m still finishing my original serum in the old packaging (it only takes a dime sized amount each use), alternating it with the new watery serum depending on my mood. I like the updated, more modern bottle, but the original short one definitely fits better into my rotating organizer.

With all of that said, both serums are wonderful but not exactly different as far as results. So, pick one based on the scent description. I haven’t tried the other three options - Super Rich, Styling, and Rose, but I definitely want to! The two I own do a wonderful job detangling, smoothing, and protecting my hair. I love them.
