SOME BY MI Yuja Niacin Brightening Sleeping Mask Review

This post contains affiliate links. Product provided by Stylevana.

After falling in love with Some By Mi’s Yuja serum (review here), I decided to explore the Yuja line a bit more. For months their sleeping mask hung out in my wish list, until I finally got it. I’m very fair and prone to freckles, so the pursuit of a more even complexion is one of my goals. To be clear, I don’t mind freckles themselves, but I do not want to get large sun / age spots.

SOME BY MI Yuja Niacin Brightening Sleeping Mask is available on Amazon, YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT), Stylevana (code INF10KBH), Jolse, iHerb (code CWN6107), and Stylekorean. It promises a radiant and youthful complexion and features niacinamide, yuja extract, and ten vitamins. A full list of ingredients can be found at the end of the review.

How to use

  • Apply evenly over the face before going to bed

  • Wash off the next morning

The mask has a gel texture and noticeable (but pleasant) bitter citrus scent. It never dries down on my combination skin, staying quite sticky for hours.

My impressions

I was fully expecting to love this mask, especially after hearing rave reviews from some of my favorite content creators like James Welsh. Unfortunately, the finish is so annoying that it ruins the entire experience for me.

I expected a light gel moisturizer, something to use a couple of times a week. But it’s so sticky that I can barely handle it. I can deal with a bit of stickiness or a less than ideal texture in an evening product, as long as it does something noticeably beneficial for my skin. I’m not seeing any benefits that can be clearly and specifically tied to this mask, and the yucky stickiness prevents me from using it regularly. It’s not even a good body product, because it makes my legs stick to the bedding. Sigh. I think I’ll stick to the serum from this line, and maybe try the toner eventually, but this mask is a fail.
