TIA’M Vita Refre-C Toner Review

I appreciate vitamin C products, but often struggle keeping them in my routine because they oxidize quickly. That process can often start before the item even makes it to my shelf. TIA’M Vita Refre-C Toner tackles that problem head on with their innovative packaging design.

The TIA’M Vita Refre-C Toner came to me in one of By Sophie kbeauty boxes. It’s also available for purchase on* YesStyle (save more with reward code KBHOBBIT), Stylekorean, Stylevana, Amazon, and eBay. The bottle has two parts - one with the toner, and another with the ascorbic acid powder. The components are combined right before the first use, keeping the vitamin C portion as stable as possible until you are ready to introduce the toner to your routine.

The toner promises to brighten, even out the tone, refresh, and protect the skin. Using vitamin C along with sun protection can boost the efficacy of your SPF. In addition to vitamin C, the formula also features vitamin E, which improves the effects of the C.

How to use:

  • Before the very first use, press the button on the cap and release the vitamin C powder into the toner

  • Shake to mix

  • Replace the cap with the included pump dispenser

  • Then, apply to clean skin with cotton pads (I use hands)

  • Can be used in the morning or at night (or both)

TIA’M Vita Refre-C Toner is best stored in the fridge or a cool, dark place to extend its life. The liquid starts out colorless or nearly colorless and may eventually look different as the oxidation process sets in. It can still be used (according to the brand), unless the color becomes dark.

The texture is very thin and watery. The scent is what you would expect from vitamin C powder - slightly acidic. There are no artificial fragrances or colors in the formula.

My impressions

I’m usually a little hesitant to try vitamin C products, because I’ve had reactions in the past (not to the C itself, but probably to something else in the formula). This toner agrees with my combination skin. I’ve been using it daily in the morning. It’s very light and absorbs easily. If I need extra hydration, I may use a more hydrating toner on top.

The formula is not sticky. There can be a bit of a sting (especially if you have scratches or open pimples), but nothing extreme. Because of the thin consistency, one pump is plenty for my whole face - it spreads very easily.

I’m incredibly prone to freckles and have a stubborn post inflammatory spot on my nose. I’m seeing gradual improvements. There are no miracles, but consistency does yield results. I’m happy to report no unpleasant side effects, at least on me. I think my skin looks brighter, too, and like I sleep more than I actually do.

I love the glass packaging. It always feels like a luxury product when the bottle is glass. The pump dispenser is nice as well; I prefer that to pour-out type bottles.

Overall, I’m pleased. I’m hoping I can use up the whole bottle before it oxidizes. And while it’s best to keep in the fridge, I opt for under the sink. It’s still dark there, and I don’t have to remember to go to the kitchen every morning.
