I love sheet masks dearly and use them almost daily, but I also enjoy a great wash off mask (meaning one you slather on, leave for some time, then rinse off). I’m already a big Innisfree fan because they use clean ingredients (no parabens, for example), and because just about every product I have tried has worked well for my skin (combination with oily t-zone and dry-to-normal cheeks). When I saw this Innisfree Black-Green Tea Mask, I couldn't say no. It's available on eBay, Amazon and Cosmetic-love.
What is “black green tea”? It’s green tea that has been fermented and matured through two different stages over 100 days (the brand calls that "after-fermentation"). Innisfree uses pesticide-free Camellia Sinensis (tea) leaves from the pure Jeju island. This “after-fermented” green tea soothes the skin, removes dead cells and calms irritations.
Tea is naturally rich in antioxidants which can slow the aging process. The unique Innisfree fermentation process results in the formation of Gallic Acid which firms the skin and clears the complexion. The mask will work for all skin types but is especially beneficial for those prone to breakouts, acne, and excess oil.
How to use:
Cleanse the face
Use toner
Apply the mask over the face avoiding eye and lip areas
Wash off after 10-15 minutes
Follow with the rest of your routine
My impressions:
Although my breakouts are small and rare, I still keep calming/soothing treatments on hand to quickly get rid of redness and inflammation if they happen. This mask is excellent at that. I’m guilty of having “extraction sessions” occasionally (aka pimple popping) and since I’m so fair, everything afterwards just looks red. And yes, I know it's "bad for me", but hey, I'm careful, everything is clean, and I've never had an issue or scarring. I'm still by no means advising you to go excavating your own faces :)
This mask calms the redness in just 15 minutes, doesn’t sting and doesn’t irritate anything.
One of my favorite things about this product is the scent. It smells divine of citrus and tea, and I just can’t get enough. And pieces of tea leaves in the translucent gel add a little something “authentic” to the experience (although they really freak out my 4 year old who tells me every time to wash it off and use a different mask haha).
I’ve also used it on my husband who has oily skin with enlarged pores, and it made his face matte and hydrated without any heaviness or stickiness.
