Laneige Water Sleeping Mask Review
Nearly every product category has its heroes - best known, most loved, iconic items (Chanel N°5 for perfume, for example). In Korean sleeping masks, such hero is Laneige Water Sleeping Mask.
This gel mask with ultra concentrated Hydro Ionized Water hydrates the skin while you sleep. It has won Allure’s Best of Beauty Awards and CEW (Cosmetic Executive Women) Beauty Awards. It’s available on eBay, Amazon, Cosmetic Love and YesStyle in a variety of sizes, including sample sachets and tiny travel jars.
Calming Sleepscent™ - that’s right, guys and gals, even the scent of this mask is trademarked. A special blend of orange flower, rose, and sandalwood brings relaxation and comfort while you sleep
Apricot and evening primrose extracts - brighten and purify
Sleep-Tox™ - trademarked purification technology that helps the skin recover from external stressors and heal from damage
Hydro ionized mineral water - contains zinc, manganese, magnesium, sodium, calcium and potassium that are ionized and stabilized in water to reach into the deep layers of the skin and provide hydration
Moisture Wrap™ - a network of minerals forms an 8 hour slow release moisturizing layer over skin, helping all the hydration from the active ingredients stay where it should
I’m currently using the full size original formula, but I also had a trial jar of the lavender version. If you are into lavender scents, perhaps try that one.
How to use:
Cleanse and use toner
Apply your regular essence / serum (optional)
Spread the mask evenly across the face and leave on overnight
Rinse in the morning
Use 1-2 times a week
I haven’t met a Laneige product I haven’t liked (read reviews here). The brand makes good quality, effective cosmetics that work really well for my skin. The price point is reasonable, especially if you order directly from Korea (read about the places I like to shop online in this post). My first experience with the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask was in a trial size of the lavender and I fell in love. The texture is light yet so hydrating. There’s no sticky feeling or heavy residue. For me, the results are in the “WOW” category - smooth, plump, hydrated skin that feels very soft to the touch.
Everyone should try this, even if only in a sample. So many other sleeping masks get judged by comparing them to the Laneige one. Don’t be fooled by dupes - products that look very similar in packaging and color, but lack the trademarked, well-researched ingredients. Skin is our largest organ, and I like to slather it with good quality products, not cheap knock offs. To read about the other sleeping masks I’ve tried, click here.
