AXIS-Y Complete No-Stress Physical Sunscreen Review
AXIS-Y is a new to me brand of Korean skincare that uses high quality ingredients. What really stands out is the brand’s focus on the climate and its effects on the skin. Their 6+1+1 Advanced Formula skincare (611) was developed specifically for people with acne-prone, oily skin who live in a humid climate. 611 means 6 key / active ingredients, 1 core ingredient, and 1 patented technology.
I chose a few of their products (watch the unboxing video here) to try and see if they would work for my combination skin in the Midwest. You can find out more about the brand on their website and Instagram.
If you have seen or read any of my content, you already know that I take my SPF very seriously. I may skip just about any other skincare step, but never sun protection. Of course, AXIS-Y Complete No-Stress Physical Sunscreen was one of their products I wanted to try. It’s sold on* YesStyle (use reward code KBHOBBIT for an extra discount), Stylevana, and their official website.
Any sunscreen (chemical or physical) is better than no sun protection. I personally prefer physical filters. AXIS-Y sunscreen uses physical filters - zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. It also features a variety of plant extracts (such as calendula, mugwort, and chamomile) to soothe and protect.
How to use (official brand instructions):
Apply a small amount to face and neck
Pat until fully absorbed
It’s really important to use enough sunscreen to get adequate protection. So, I’m going to clarify the brand’s instructions.
Apply a larger amount (about the length of three fingers) to the face and neck
Don’t forget the sides of your neck and your ears
First pic - right after application.
Second pic - when the SPF set in. I love the matte finish without dryness.
I use SPF daily (yes, even indoors - windows do not typically block UVA) and see it as the most important part of skincare. In my opinion, any effort to improve the skin will be in vain without proper sun protection.
Reading the reviews online, the formula has been upgraded / updated. I have not tried the original version, but I love the new one. In fact, I like it so much that it landed in my Best of Kbeauty 2020 YouTube video.
AXIS-Y Complete No-Stress Physical Sunscreen is very pleasant to use. It’s easy to spread, light, and not greasy. At first, it looks dewy, but then sets to a nice, natural finish. Not too matte and not shiny. I usually finish any sunscreen with a powder, but don’t have to do that with AXIS-Y.
There’s no white cast, at least on me. I’m quite pale and can’t speak for deeper skin tones. However, I’ve had plenty of sunscreens that left a greasy white cast even on me, so I’m glad to have a physical formula that doesn’t do that.
Overall, a great product. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone in search of a new SPF to add to their routine.
