AXIS-Y Spot the Difference Blemish Treatment is an alcohol-free spot treatment formulated for acne-prone skin. The clear gel contains visible ceramide capsules to help support a healthy skin barrier, along with 2% niacinamide, AHA and BHA to help with oil balance and inflammation.
AXIS-Y uses 6+1+1 Advanced Formula skincare (611), which stands for 6 key / active ingredients, 1 core ingredient, and 1 patented technology. With the Blemish Treatment, the core ingredient is 4-Terpineol due to its antibacterial and antioxidant properties. The other 6 key components are: tea tree extract, camphor leaf, licorice root, green tea leaf, mentha aquatica, and broadleaf bamboo (a full list can be found at the end of the review).
How to use:
Cleanse and tone the skin
Apply the blemish treatment to the affected areas
Gently pat in, then follow with the rest of your routine
The treatment is a non-sticky clear gel with beautiful pink inclusions. It’s very easy to spread and doesn’t have a scent (at least to me, although my sense of smell has not completely recovered yet). I do not notice any stickiness after application.
My impressions
I needed something like this and it arrived at the perfect time, because my skin promptly broke out in pimples just for testing (thanks, skin!).
I have combination skin that’s not very acne prone, but I still suffer from occasional breakouts. Because I’m so fair, any redness or pimples become noticeable right away. I like to keep a good product on hand to treat skin’s surprises quickly and effectively.
AXIS-Y Spot the Difference Blemish Treatment visibly reduces redness and inflammation overnight. Because it’s a gel, I can easily apply it to a large area, which isn’t possible with pimple patches. It’s also completely clear (the pink capsules dissolve during application) and not noticeable, making it great for morning use, if needed. I am very pleased with how quickly and gently it works.
My only wish is for a larger bottle. I would love to be able to use this as an all over serum, especially during certain times of the month, even before the breakout starts. I think it could potentially help prevent some of the issues from happening, not just treat the existing ones. As a spot treatment, only a little bit is needed at a time, so I think it would easily last me several months.
While this is marketed specifically for oily types, I think it would work for anyone whose skin needs some soothing and healing. I love that the formula doesn’t contain any drying alcohols. I don’t villainize alcohol in skincare, but when we are talking about irritate or red skin, I think it’s best to avoid it if possible.
Overall, another win from AXIS-Y and another tool in my kit for treating acne and breakouts.
