I don’t typically buy gels other than to use with my microcurrent devices. However, I’ve been eyeing the Beauty of Joseon Red Bean Water Gel for a while and wanted to try it. There’s just something about its color and packaging that enticed me. This product promises to moisturize the skin while minimizing the oily feeling. It contains 44% Haenam Red Bean Extract to help with excess sebum plus peptides to promote well aging.
How to use
Apply at the end of your skincare routine
Use SPF during the day
The brand recommends using this gel after their Red Bean Refreshing Pore Mask, which I recently reviewed as well - you can find that review by clicking #BeautyofJoseon tag. And that’s a great and refreshing combo for anyone with oily or combination skin.
The texture is somewhere between a watery aloe gel and a thicker gel-cream. It feels almost creamy yet light. My combination skin absorbs the water gel quickly but feels more moisturized than after other gels I’ve tried. I notice a light scent even though I don’t see fragrance being listed. But some ingredients have an aroma to them without it being classified as “fragrance”.
I’m glad I tried this gel. My t-zone is oily but the rest of my face is dry. Most nights, I like to slather all kinds of lotions and potions on my skin to thoroughly moisturize it while I sleep. But some evenings I take an early bath and still want to hang out, watch tv, read, or write a blog article without my face feeling tacky or sticky. After all, true life begins after the kids are in bed. Beauty of Joseon Red Bean Water Gel is perfect for those nights. It moisturizes and locks in the hydrating steps of my routine but dries down to a comfortable level that feels like my own skin but softer and smoother. And if I want to, I can always add a heavier moisturizer on top before bed.
My morning routines are very simple and don’t involve a moisturizer (other than SPF) the majority of the year. But as we are heading into Winter, I can see myself using Beauty of Joseon Red Bean Water Gel before my SPF as an extra barrier between my skin and the elements. I will happily use up this tube and would consider getting this again.
