Want some unsolicited parenting advice? Never pass perfume you don’t like to your kids. Chances are, they’ll love it and wear it ALL THE TIME and you’ll have to smell it. Another piece of wisdom - don’t let your preteen loose at Ulta - they might find something they absolutely have to have; it will become a matter of survival. And before someone asks - my child is very respectful, quiet, and gentle when shopping. She’s not one of those IG children who wreck Drunk Elephant displays making “smoothies”. She’s ok to browse by herself - the only risk is unexpected expenses hehe.

My daughter walked around Ulta, smelled Sabrina Carpenter’s Sweet Tooth perfume in Lemon Pie, and had to have it. She did the math per oz, comparing travel and 1oz bottles, presented her findings to me, told me it made more sense to buy the 1oz, and told me the balance in her little savings account. Ok fine, she knew how to speak to my accountant soul. I allowed it.

Since then, she has gone through two 1oz bottles of Sabrina Carpenter Sweet Tooth Lemon Pie Eau de Parfum, available at Ulta, Jomashop (I have purchased from them before - a totally legit shop), and Boots. After finishing the first one, she asked for a restock for her birthday.

Key Notes

  • Top: Italian Bergamot, Candied Lemon Zest, Sugar Crystals

  • Mid: Dash Of Limoncello, Meringue, Condensed Milk

  • Dry: Graham Cracker Crust, Vanilla Whipped Cream, Tonka Bean

It’s a fun, happy, sweet scent that reminds me of a bakery in the best way. Longevity is decent - several hours. Just long enough not to become annoying. Marketing materials describe the scent as “citrus gourmand”, but I barely notice any citrus notes. It’s a gourmand, for sure, but more of a milk / vanilla / sugar one for me, not lemon zest.

My impressions

I have worn this perfume for testing purposes and it’s not for me. I do not see myself as a cupcake fairy that smells like sugar and sunshine. However, I enjoy it on my kid, which is a huge plus since I had to experience it daily for months on end. Her room, clothes, and hair all smelled like dessert all the time. It’s a very vanilla-forward fragrance. I’m not a vanilla girl, but she certainly is.

The packaging is cute, bright and happy, and the price isn’t horrible. For reference, another scent she loved was Coconut Sun, which costs as much for a travel size as Sweet Tooth does for 1oz.

My preference for her is to use “real” makeup and perfume instead of kid versions, opting for more affordable brands. Even when she was 3-4 and begging for lipsticks, I would either buy barely tinted Korean brands or something from Elf, because those products were made better and with stricter safety guidelines than “play” makeup.

Sabrina Carpenter Sweet Tooth Lemon Pie Eau de Parfum is by no means a kid fragrance. But it works so well for preteens - it’s not as expensive as designer fragrances, but smells nice and complex enough to not scream “I’m a cheap kid-only play brand”. If you love vanilla, sweet scents that make you think of tasty baked goods, you will probably love it. Holiday shopping is about to start - if you have a little diva on your gift list, she may love this.
