DedCool Milk Layering + Enhancer Fragrance Review

I love perfume! What started as a micro-obsession due to stress and the need to focus on something else has grown into a deep appreciation for scents. Wearing a nice scent makes me genuinely happy, and at this point I’ll take any shred of a mood boost I can get.

DedCool is a fragrance brand that makes non-gendered perfumes, room sprays, and other products. I’ve recently seen some creators claim that DedCool Xtra Milk Room Spray is the secret behind the amazing aroma inside Erewhon stores (I did not fact check this, but sounds promising). I don’t think I can afford to breathe inside Erewhon…

When the brand offered to send me some of their products, I excitedly agreed. DedCool Milk Layering + Enhancer Fragrance is a universal musk that smells like “warm, clean skin”. This sounds exactly like the type of scent that I enjoy - pleasant but not overly attention drawing. Milk is available on the DedCool website and Amazon.

Please note that the brand changed the packaging slightly - the lid now looks different than what’s in my pictures. However, the formula stayed the same.

Top: bergamot

Middle: white musk

Base: amber

If someone asked me to identify the notes, I would not have been able to pick out amber or bergamot. It just smells like a cozy, lovely “my skin but better” scent to me, without leaning too warm or “ambery”. 

My impressions

I love this scent. It’s somewhat reminiscent of my favorite Rosie by Rosie Jane - cozy and skin-like, comforting and not overwhelming. Unfortunately, it’s extremely short lasting. I have tried many times, and the fragrance is completely gone mere hours after application. I sprayed it around 8AM this morning, targeting my hair, arms, chest - way more than I would do for another perfume. By 10:20AM, I can barely pick up the scent at all. I can smell a tiny bit by holding my arm directly up to my nose, but that’s it. I haven’t tried DedCool Milk as a layering fragrance, perhaps it works differently / better that way.

It’s important to note that lifestyle and biology affect how long a scent lasts on a person. The same exact formula can fade quickly on me but last hours on you. I love this scent, and it’s quite possible that it will last much better on some of my readers. My plan for this bottle is to give it to my preteen. She loves perfume and since I have to smell whatever she chooses to wear, I try to make sure she only owns scents that I personally enjoy. This will be a nice change to the Sabrina Carpenter she’s been spraying everywhere since Christmas.

As far as good news, I have a couple more DedCool fragrances to try, and hopefully those scents wear better. And I should probably try the Xtra Milk formula to see how that goes.
