Remember the viral Kahi balm? People hyped it up to no end, and it was my most read review that year (read it here). Spoiler alert - I didn’t like it at all. The marketing, especially kdrama inclusion, was brilliant, but the product itself didn’t do anything for me. I think it’s living out its final days somewhere on my mom’s bathroom counter.
Move over, Kahi, there’s a new hero in town - Dr.Melaxin Cemenrete Calcium Volume Multi Balm. Spend any time on beautytok and you’ll run across a sponsored ad (or undisclosed brand content) telling you how the balm fixed the person’s hollow undereyes and smile lines. I did see a couple people I personally trust speak highly of the balm, without promising miracles, so I decided to try it.
The balm is marketed as an “eye care game changer” that can address sagginess, dark circles, and crow’s feet - all while boosting collagen and firming the skin. Sweet. Sign me up. How to use
Gently apply to desired areas
I use this as the very last step of my evening skincare, focusing on the undereyes and nasolabial folds
Pro tip for retinoid users - if you don’t want to have retinoids migrate to the undereye or other delicate areas, apply the balm before your tretinoin anywhere you don’t want tret to go.
The balm has a very faint, barely detectable scent. It goes on the skin very smoothly, without tugging or pulling, and doesn’t feel greasy. I have combo skin with an oily t-zone and some signs of aging (I’m 36).
My impressions
I absolutely love this balm, but it’s not a miracle product TikTok influencers will lead you to believe. It cannot restore lost volume. It is not an alternative to filler or botox. It’s not magic. But it makes my undereyes so smooth! I wake up with a refreshed face, absolutely no visible fine lines under the eyes, and no dryness. My typical go-to for severe under eye dehydration is Cerave healing ointment over an eye cream, but the Dr.Melaxin balm is so much easier and less messy to use.
I’ve seen MUAs like Erica Taylor apply it during the day to prevent concealer caking and creasing. I’m not at that stage yet, my skin cannot take this much nourishment for daytime, but someone more mature (age wise) may appreciate this application as well.
Dr.Melaxin Cemenrete Calcium balm is absolutely worth a try, as long as you have realistic expectations. It makes a visible difference for my skin and I would happily get it again. I am not sure how long it will take to get through the tube, but I already have a backup in my cart for later. YesStyle is covering all US tariffs, so if you shop there or on Amazon, you will not have to worry about any additional charges upon delivery. Things have changed so much with imports that I don’t want to risk going without. I’m going to stock up a bit while the situation is somewhat stable.
