Mise en scéne Damage Care Perfect Serum Review

This post contains affiliate links. Product provided by Stylevana.

I have fine, thin hair - check out my hairloss video for some things that worked to make it better. One part of keeping the mane looking as full as possible is limiting breakage. But since the hair is fine, I don’t want to weigh it down, make it look flat or oily / greasy.

I like to apply leave in conditioners or hair serums on wash days to limit friction and breakage along the hair shaft. I'm currently using Mise en scéne Damage Care Perfect Serum. It’s available on Amazon, Stylevana (code INF10KBH), Olive Young (code KBHOBBIT77), and Jolse. The serum promises to add shine and moisture to the hair and repair damage.

Please note that the packaging for this product has recently changed. To the best of my knowledge, the contents are the same - the bottle just looks different from mine.

How to use

  • Apply to towel-dried hair before drying / styling

  • Can also be used on dry hair

I use the Damage Care Serum a couple of times a week before blow drying. The smell is arguably one of the best attributes of this product - it immediately makes me feel like I’m using an expensive serum and not something that retails for under $12. While the scent is fantastic, I only notice it at application and for a little bit after - it’s completely gone in under an hour, so it doesn’t interfere with my perfumes / doesn’t draw much attention.

The texture is slippery / glidey (not a word? Well, it’s a word now…), but not greasy or sticky. It’s a joy to put in the hair. I do 1-3 pumps (depending on how much comes out) and apply it from the ear level down to the ends, then comb through with a wide tooth comb before blow drying. My hair is about shoulder length at the moment.

My impressions

This is wonderful and I would be willing to pay more than the current price for this. In fact, I already have another version (watery) in my cart.

I didn’t expect any damage repair from the Mise en scene serum - to me it’s all about prevention. I notice fewer snapped strands in my hairbrush, and my hair looks shinier and better overall. Despite some recommendations, I do comb my hair when wet (otherwise it’s impossible to brush out when dry), and I get significantly less snagging and resistance when I use the serum vs when I don’t.

Most importantly, the serum doesn’t weigh down my fine hair and doesn't make it look greasy.

I’m very happy with mise en scene and will probably be a lifelong customer. It’s a great serum with a rightfully earned fan base.
