Properly hydrating the skin just might be the easiest and quickest way to look younger (at least for me). I’m 30 and have combination skin with some fine lines. Those lines, especially on the forehead, become extra visible if I don’t take careful hydration steps.
Sheet masks are by far my favorite way to deliver hydration and moisture to the skin. Good thing the world of Korean beauty has plenty available. The latest addition to my vast collection are Oattbe Syn Bio Beta Glucan Soothing Return Masks. These have recently launched on Amazon and the vendor kindly sent me a box of seven to try. The masks are made without oil, drying alcohols, parabens, and sulfates. They are cruelty free. Oattbe Syn Bio Beta Glucan Soothing Return Masks should work for all skin types, but will especially benefit those prone to acne and irritation and those with dehydrated skin. The star ingredient - beta glucan - is a skin soothing agent with antioxidant properties, which reduces redness and is great for sensitive skin.
How to use:
Use after cleansing (I start with toner, because I’m so used to masking this way, but the directions do not specifically say you have to use toner)
Leave the mask on for 20-40 minutes
Remove and discard the mask, pat in the remaining essence
Follow with your favorite moisturizer
The manufacturer recommends using these masks 2-3 times a week. If your skin is in dire need of a more intense intervention, then they can be used daily. Thus, one box will provide a week of daily treatments.
By now, I consider myself a connoisseur of sheet masks. Years ago, when I first started to experiment with kbeauty, I used to be impressed by most of them. Now, I am much more picky about everything - the fit, the material, the effects, etc.
The Oattbe Syn Bio β-Glucans Soothing Return Masks are very well made. The material is thin (in the best way) and soft. It adheres well to the skin. You will notice that it slightly overlaps my top lip. Sometimes, that causes lip irritation (with other masks), but not with this one. The serum is very soothing and definitely hydrating (notice how many times the word “moist” is listed on the package haha). These masks are a pleasure to use.
My fine lines, especially the ones on the forehead and around the nasolabial folds, get plumped up and smoothed out. The effects are temporary, but so are all things in life. The soothing effect is another reason I’m enjoying these. I’ve had a fair share of hormonal breakouts lately, and some sheet masks can even make that worse. But the Oattbe Syn Bio β-Glucans Soothing Return Masks soothe and hydrate the skin without any adverse effects (and no stinging).
Overall, these are great and are on par with more expensive masks that I’ve tried.
