Pyunkang Yul Mist Toner Review

I’m late to the Pyunkang Yul game, but I quickly saw why everyone seems to love the brand. It’s simplistic yet elegant in both the formulations and package design. More importantly, the products work wonderfully well.

The Pyunkang Yul Mist Toner is available in 100ml and 200ml size on* YesStyle (use my reward code KBHOBBIT for an extra 5% discount), Stylekorean, Stylevana, Amazon, and eBay. I have the larger option. It contains minimal (but effective) ingredients to hydrate and soothe irritated and dry skin. My skin is combination with dry and oily areas.

How to use:

  • Spray over the entire face (and neck) after cleansing

  • Gently pat in

This can also be used over makeup throughout the day, but I haven’t tried that.

The toner is fragrance and color free and non-irritating (a full list of ingredients is available at the end of the review).

You may be wondering how the Pyunkang Yul Mist Toner is different from Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner (which I reviewed here). The mist has a lighter, more watery consistency; the essence toner is more viscous and gel-like. Both would work for most skin types, but oilier people may enjoy the mist version more. The mist toner’s first ingredient is 91.9% Coptis Japonica root extract to help with irritation and redness. The essence toner’s first ingredient is 91.3% Milk Vetch Extract with antioxidant properties.

My impressions:

The mist is very fine and easy to use. It’s definitely hydrating but still light enough to work on my combination skin in the mornings. I’ve also been following James Welsh’s recommendations of adding a mist in between other layers of skincare at night (so toner - mist - essence - mist - serum - mist) for extra hydration, and this Pyunkang Yul toner is great for that.

It does a great job hydrating my skin and doesn’t interfere with any other products, even actives, since the ingredients list is so simple. Highly recommended.
