VT Cosmetics Essence Sun Pact SPF50+ PA+++ Review

This post contains affiliate links. Product provided by YesStyle.

I’m in the mood for reviewing some not-so-splendid products (perhaps to help your wallets recover after all the Black Friday / Cyber Monday sales). VT Cosmetics Essence Sun Pact SPF50+ PA+++ compact includes a white and blue essences and promises to moisturize, protect against UV, and improve the health of the skin. It’s available on YesStyle (use reward code KBHOBBIT for savings), Stylevana (code INF10KBH), and Amazon.

When I decided to review this, I thought it would be a cushion (close to a makeup cushion) - a sponge soaked in SPF that’s easy to apply using the puff. Instead, it is a solid, similar to lip balms - rubbing the applicator or fingers on the surface does dispense some product, but it’s not a liquid or a cream.

How to use:

  • Pat / spread over the skin using the included puff

  • Ponder the meaning of life and why you chose this over an easier-to-apply formula

My impressions

I find this hard to apply (I’m used to cushions where pressing on the sponge releases some liquid product). But here it’s a compacted cream and I have to keep rubbing the puff on it. The formula is a little on the sticky / oily side. It makes my combination skin shiny.

Overall, it’s just not a pleasant user experience, and I’m also not sure it provides adequate coverage. Rubbing a puff on the face is likely not creating an even layer of SPF. I much prefer sunscreen sticks (like Scinic or make p:rem) and powders (such as Canmake) for reapplication throughout the day. Those are super easy to use and don’t make my face a greasy mess.

After trying this compact a couple of times, I ended up giving it away to someone who didn’t mind that it’s been tried / used. I couldn’t even finish it - I just don’t like it. And I almost never ever give away SPF, so that’s saying something.

Surprisingly, almost every single review on YesStyle is a 5 star review. It’s possible that my dislike of this pact is due to user error. If you’ve tried this, please let me know what you think!
