Innisfree Jeju Lava Seawater Skin/Toner Review
I have combination, typically breakout-free skin. In the winter, I get terribly dry in the heating hell inside and the wind and cold outside (which sometimes makes my skin produce more oil and look greasier than a used fast food napkin). The other extreme is when I get such bad dryness that the skin gets tight and I see two extra wrinkles on my forehead that are typically no there.
Even in the summer, I prefer a hydrating toner in the evenings. When I finished another Innisfree mineral water-based toner, I bought Jeju Lava Seawater Skin (“skin” is a popular word for “toner” in Korean beauty). It’s a hydrating anti-aging toner with sea water which makes the skin smoother and more elastic. “Surging with up to 18 natural minerals, this refreshing liquid formula helps strengthen skin’s natural moisture barrier” promises Innisfree.
I might be in love with this toner. It’s slightly thicker than water in consistency, absorbs very well, and even if there’s a slight stickiness, it completely disappears when the subsequent skincare steps are applied. I’ve recently learned about the newly popular Korean skincare trend “7 skin”. The toner is applied to the face up to 7 times, until the skin can’t absorb any more, and then the rest of the routine is continued. The point is to hydrate and nourish the skin for which one layer of toner is not enough. This should only be done with alcohol-free toners. Since my skin is currently quite dry, I use this method a few times a week before bed. I apply the layers with my hands: the first layer, pat it in for a few seconds, second layer, pat that in, and so on. I only have the patience for 3-4 layers :) But even with that, my skin became much more hydrated.
I’m not very good at describing scents, but I’ll give it a shot. Out of all of the toners that I have tried (probably about 10?), this one has the most interesting aroma. I get the hints of bergamot and patchouli. I think the fragrance is suitable for any gender. It dissipates quickly and I can only notice it at very short ranges.
Jeju lava seawater (the first ingredient) naturally filtered through volcanic bedrock, absorbing beneficial minerals along the way. These rare minerals nourish and plump up the skin, delaying the appearance of the signs of aging.
How to use:
1. Apply after cleansing with hands or cotton discs
2. Gently pat in to facilitate absorption
