Laneige Special Care Lip Sleeping Mask Review
I have struggled with dry lips for as long as I can remember. I’ve made my own lip balm (pretty good, but I would really rather not spend my limited free time melting coconut oil and wax together and then using a dropper to get that into tiny plastic tubes until my hands cramp) and tried many store bought versions. The world of Korean skincare has brought numerous lip products into my life and I couldn’t be happier.
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask is well known in the skincare enthusiast circles. It’s even popular in the West and received the 2018 Glamour Beauty Award. The berry variety is the best known (and what I have), but you can also find Grapefruit, Apple, and Vanilla on eBay and Amazon.
How to use (official instructions):
Apply to the lips before bed
Wipe off the next morning
Personally, I skip that second step - nothing's left in the morning, just supple lips. And I often apply it during the day as a lip balm. The product works great over potentially drying lip tints and stains and gives the lips a glossy look with a slight pink hue.
Moisture Wrap™ - exclusive laneige technology featuring beta-glucan to provide 8 hours of moisture release to the skin
Berry Mix Complex™ - a blend of raspberries, strawberries, cranberries, goji berries and blueberries rich in vitamin C and antioxidants
Shea butter - intensively nourishes and softens
My impressions: I wonder if I will ever run out of this mask. It seems that I’ve had it forever and yet only half the jar is gone. I haven’t met a Laneige product I haven’t loved, and this is no exception. The smell is light and berry-licious, the texture is thick and nourishing but not sticky (although my husband often asks why must I slather myself with things before bed). The very subtle pink coloring helps my lips look extra nice if used during the day. The jar came with a cute silicone application spatula which I inevitably lost. I find it easier to use a clean finger to apply anyways.
Every winter for as long as I can remember, my lips cracked to a point of bleeding at least once. But not this year - and I think it’s mostly because of the mask (although I’m also using this lip oil). I had a travel size mini tub on a business trip in January and ended up leaving it with a friend to help her sad lip situation. It was really great to have on the plane (at least on the way there) since planes are notorious for their dry air. Fun fact - some people love doing sheet masks during flights but I’m not that brave yet.
