I love a good sun stick - it’s a quick and easy way to reapply sunscreen. Even better - my kids don’t fight sun sticks nearly as much as they do traditional creams. To be perfectly fair, I don’t think any sun stick offers enough sun protection by itself, and I still reach for creams to reapply during beach days. But during the normal course of non-summer life, sun sticks are a great way to top off sunscreen without ending up with greasy fingers or upset kids. I always have one in my purse.

Abib Airy Sunstick Smoothing Bar SPF50+ PA++++ is available on Amazon, YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT), and Stylevana (code INF10KBH). It has a semi-matte finish and waterproof formula with no white cast.

How to use

  • Glide over the face and body before sun exposure

  • Reapply as needed

The marketing materials promise soothing, hydrating, and complexion improvement. I personally don’t look for those things in sunscreen - I only want a good SPF. But if there are some additional benefits, then that’s a cherry on top.

I always do a good base layer of more traditional sunscreen, but use sticks for quick touch ups throughout the day, especially if I’m out more than usual or if I’m touching my face a lot and disturbing that initial SPF application.

My impressions

Surprisingly, I don’t see much about this Abib sunstick online. The first one in the black packaging was all over my social media and in several PR packages, but I hated the greasy, heavy formula. The Airy formulation is pretty close to perfect. I can still somewhat feel it on the skin, but it’s not bad, especially considering it’s waterproof. I see no white cast on my pale skin and no unwanted greasy finish. I can reapply several times without developing a layer of gunk on the skin.

The brand uses the shape / curve / size of the Airy Sunstick as a selling point - to me it’s not significantly better or different from straight, smaller sun sticks. I have no issues with either of the shapes. If anything, the smaller ones are easier to tuck into purse pockets, but it’s not a deal breaker either way.

If you are in the market for a good sun stick, Abib is a worthy choice.
