AIPPO Expert Soothing Ampoule Review

Product provided by By Sophie beauty box

AIPPO is not a well known brand, but they make some interesting things. I’ve had their face wash, bb cream, sunscreen (review here), and now AIPPO Expert Soothing Ampoule. I got mine in a By Sophie box; it’s also available on the brand website.

AIPPO Expert Soothing Ampoule is made with calming ingredients such as centella, portulaca oleracea, and licorice root. It has a liquid consistency that has a bit of a slip without being greasy. It could almost be called a facial oil and reminds me of the Klairs Fundamental Watery Oil Drop (review here). There is a scent that’s noticeable but doesn’t linger. I dislike the smell - it reminds me of cheap soap from my childhood.

How to use:

  • Apply a few drops to the face after cleansing

  • Gently tap for full absorption

  • Follow with the rest of your routine

I use this product at the serum stage, after cleansing, toning, and essences. If you aren’t quite sure what toners, essences, and all of the other kbeauty steps are, check out this video.

My impressions

I haven’t had this ampoule for long (two weeks), so I can’t speak about the long term effects yet. The initial impressions are mixed. I like the consistency and how wonderfully the AIPPO ampoule glides onto the skin. I have noticed soothing and softening effects. And the glass packaging definitely adds something extra to my skincare ri

tual.

I don’t love the scent. It’s not necessarily a deal breaker, but it takes away from the experience. I would have also preferred to have a fragrance free product since it’s meant to be soothing. Compromised / irritated skin isn’t the time to be applying fragrance, in my opinion. To be clear, I’m not anti-scents, but if I’m going to use something on irritated skin, I would prefer it to be fragrance free. But the way this ampoule is made, I can only use it when my skin is in good shape and the barrier isn’t compromised.

I will continue to use this and see how my skin reacts after a few more weeks.
