B.LAB Matcha Hydrating Foam Cleanser Review

This post contains affiliate links. Product provided by YesStyle.

Isn’t cleansing the best? I’ve loved bathing ever since I was a little kid, perhaps because my mom enjoyed taking long, luxurious baths, often with a book. And now that I’m a mother myself, I completely get the appeal of escaping to a long bath alone, in silence, with nobody wanting anything from me for the first time all day.

Foaming cleansers are getting better and better. The days of harsh, stripping formulas are mostly gone. One of the cleansers in my rotation is B.LAB Matcha Hydrating Foam Cleanser, available on YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT), Stylevana (code INF10KBH), and Jolse.

B.LAB Matcha wash promises to hydrate, protect the moisture barrier, remove impurities, and work for sensitive skin. It’s made with matcha, hyaluronic acid, fruit extracts, ceramide, and allantoin. A full list of ingredients is provided at the end of the review.

How to use:

  • Start with an oil cleanser if using at night (skip the oil cleanser in the morning)

  • Dispense the desired amount of B.LAB cleanser into palms, work into a lather with a bit of water

  • Gently massage over the face and neck

  • Rinse and follow with the rest of your routine

You can watch me use it in this video:

This product has a creamy consistency, a pale green color, and contains visible pieces of green tea leaves. I don’t notice much in terms of scent anymore. When I first got this, it smelled like real matcha, but now I don’t detect that aroma. Either it somehow wore off, or my sense of smell is not as recovered as I had thought (I had the 2020 plague over the summer, losing my sense of smell completely for a few weeks, and it may not be totally restored yet).

My impressions

For reference, I have combination skin with some oily and some dry areas. I’m adding this to my list of favorite foaming cleansers. It’s very gentle and a joy to use. I love the color and the little pieces of tea leaves - all of that adds to my overall skincare experience.

While the cleanser is marketed as hydrating, I don’t look for hydration from my foaming wash. That comes from toners, essences, and other watery layers. What I do expect is a gentle formula that cleanses without stripping and doesn’t irritate the skin, including the eye area. B.LAB Matcha cleanser does all of that beautifully. I have a small rotation of foaming cleansers in my arsenal, but have been reaching for this one more often than others. It’s such a joy to use and I will miss it when it’s gone.
