Etude Dr. Mascara Fixer For Perfect Lash is a pre-mascara product that promises to lift and hold lash curl all day without smudging. It comes in two varieties - 01 Volume Up and 02 Extension. I have 01, meant to provide extra volume and lift; 02 focuses on lengthening. All varieties are available on YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT), Amazon, Etude official, Stylevana (code INF10KBH), and Jolse.
The fixer is clear / colorless and comes in a tube with a mascara-like applicator.
How to use:
Apply to lashes before makeup
Wait for 10-20 seconds
Top off with mascara
My impressions:
My eyelashes are light, fairly long but not thick.
If your mascara is already good, then this product isn’t necessary at all. My favorite mascara is Heimish (review here), and using Etude Fixer before application doesn’t really make a difference. It does make it very difficult to remove Heimish, which normally rinses off with just water, because Etude Fixer is waterproof.
I recently had somewhat of a fail with a microcara that didn’t do much for my lashes, and applying the fixer as the first step did provide a modest boost in volume. But in general, this extra pre-mascara step is unnecessary and doesn’t do much for me. I was expecting a pretty good boost in volume and length compared to using mascara by itself, and I didn’t notice that effect.
I will not be getting this again, and am not even sure if I will finish this tube.
