Heimish Artless Glow Base SPF 50+ PA+++ Review

There can NEVER be too much sunscreen. Chemical? Physical? Stick? Cream? Gel? So many options - hopefully something for everyone. The best SPF is the one people use consistently, and it’s my absolute pleasure to try and review as many as I can in hopes of helping my readers find their own perfect option.

Heimish Artless Glow Base SPF 50+ PA+++ is available on Amazon, YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT), Stylevana (code INF10KBH), iHerb (code CWN6107) and Stylekorean. It promises a healthy glow with a radiant finish. The pearly-pink base can visually brighten the skin, especially in dull and saggy areas like the under eyes.

How to use

  • Use by itself or as primer before makeup

  • Apply evenly to exposed areas

  • Pat in for better absorption

The formula uses both chemical and physical filters. The special O/W system forms oil-water droplets upon contact with the skin that create a subtle glow. I don’t notice anything special happening during application - this information is from the marketing materials. The skin doesn’t feel oily, so these droplets are probably microscopic.

On my fair skin, this sunscreen leaves no white cast and has a natural finish. It’s not drying, doesn’t irritate the eyes, and has a light scent.

My impressions

Seeing words like “glow” and “radiant finish” in SPF ads makes me a little nervous. I have combination skin with an oily t-zone and it’s a very fine line between glowing and glistening with sebum. Plus, tone up formulas rarely look right on me.

Heimish Artless Glow Base is one of my favorite sunscreens of the last few months. It feels like a mineral formula - pleasantly soft and not sticky. There is no dryness, no tight feeling, but also no unwanted oiliness.

It’s still a tad too dewy for my liking, so on weekdays I top it off with translucent powder (I do this with most sunscreens). But I can also wear this without powder, because it looks fine as is.

When I first saw the soft pink color of this product, I was a little afraid that it would leave a cast or make me look strange like most tone up creams do. But I was pleasantly surprised - the SPF evens out my skin tone and makes my complexion look healthier and better rested. At the same time, it’s not makeup and doesn’t cover my freckles or look overdone. If my skin were a picture, this sunscreen would be the most subtle of filters - barely there yet making everything look better than real life. And this happens even if I use powder on top.

There are two things I don’t love about Heimish Artless Glow Base - the size of the tube and its design. Sunscreen is really having its moment - people are more educated about the benefits and that less is definitely not more. So how come brands are still making tubes that are only 40ml? Is this meant to last me a week??? Hmpf! No words. Even airplanes allow 100ml bottles, which is still pretty small for my liking.

Second… This might be a personal issue, but I find the product a little hard to dispense. The tube has a sleek design and looks great, but it’s hard plastic and not easy to squeeze. The cream inside isn’t liquid enough to just pour out, so some squeezing is required. And I bet it will get even harder as I get close to finishing the bottle. These aren’t deal breakers but worth mentioning.

Overall, it’s a great formula and I’m happy I tried it. I actually have another tube on its way and I will definitely be using it.
