I’m From Mushroom Collagen Ampoule Review

I’m From is one of my favorite brands, and I always keep an eye out for new launches. Not everyone is a winner, but most products work well for my combination skin. I had to try the new Mushroom Collagen Line - the ampoule and the cream.

Originally, I thought about publishing just one article talking about both products. However, my experience with them is quite different, so I thought each deserves its own dedicated review. This article is about I’m From Mushroom Collagen Ampoule, available on YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT) and Wishtrend (code LUCY15). The mushroom cream review can be found here.

The star ingredient of this new line is Tremella Fuciformis (mushroom extract), which is also known as plant-based hyaluronic acid. I’ve had one product with it before - Chasin’ Rabbits Magic Beauty Shroom (review here). Tremella mushroom extract is rich in beta-glucan, collagen-mimicking substances, and vitamin D to support a healthy skin barrier and cell regeneration.

I’m From Mushroom Collagen Ampoule promises to increase skin density, resulting in healthier and firmer appearance.

How to use

  • Apply a sufficient amount

  • Massage gently in circular motions and pat lightly for absorption

These are the official brand instructions and they do not say when to use the ampoule. I apply mine after cleansing and a watery toner, before moisturizer. For me, this is an evening product, because my morning routines are super short and consist mostly of vitamin C serum and SPF. Someone else might enjoy this as part of their morning skincare as well.

I’m From Mushroom Collagen Ampoule

I’m From mushroom ampoule has a thick, creamy consistency that reminds me of an emulsion more than an ampoule. It has no scent and leaves no stickiness behind. To be fair, I’m not sure what would happen if you used it as the very last step, but under moisturizer it’s not sticky.

My impressions

Sigh. I think I would have loved this product if it were in different packaging. At first, I loved the aesthetics of a short and wide glass bottle - it looks great and interesting, definitely standing out from other serums on my counter. But… the dropper dispenser has to go!

Even when I was taking product photos, which is always my first step to reviews, I couldn’t get enough serum out of the dropper for a good texture shot. I thought that it was a fluke or I was tired after a long photoshoot. Nope! It’s the dispenser. Or rather, a mix of product’s texture and the chosen dispenser type. It takes me several tries, including swirling the pipette inside the bottle, to get a couple of drops of products out. A lot of the time, the dropper is totally empty when I take it out of the bottle… It’s so annoying! I’m somewhat heavy handed with my serums and ampoules, and I like to have a good bit in my palm before applying. One drop isn’t enough… “But Lucy, have you tried shaking it out of the bottle instead?” Yes, yes I have… it doesn’t work well either.

Anyway… the ampoule itself is pretty good. It’s somewhat reminiscent of the I’m From Honey serum (review here), not so much in texture but in the way it nourishes the skin better than watery serums and ampoules. And I think it would have been perfect if the packaging came with a pump dispenser, the same way the honey one does. I saw someone in my Facebook group replaced the dropper with a pump top, which is genius, but we shouldn’t have to do that as consumers.

This is why I split my mushroom collagen reviews into two articles - I didn’t want to have a huge, run-on body of text praising the cream and complaining about the ampoule’s presentation. Again, I think the contents of the packaging are good in both cases, but it’s so hard to get the ampoule out that it makes me not reach for it super often.

If you’ve tried this, please let me know in the comments or leave me a note on IG (link below). I would love to know what you thought, if you had the same issues, and if you found any workarounds. The Wishtrend family of brands, which includes I’m From, is pretty responsive to consumer feedback, so if I’m not the only one struggling, they might make changes.
