Isntree Real Mugwort Clay Mask Review

I lust after wash off masks the way I used to go after sheet masks. It’s my new favorite skincare “supplement” (aka not part of the regular daily routine, but still so enjoyable occasionally). My first ever mugwort mask was the I’m From one (review here), then I moved on to AXIS-Y (review here), and now I have Isntree Real Mugwort Clay Mask. It’s available on YesStyle (use reward code KBHOBBIT), Amazon, Stylevana (use discount code INF10KBH), Olive Young, and Jolse.

Isntree Real Mugwort Clay Mask combines various clays (French green, bentonite, calcite, and Canadian colloidal clay) with soothing mugwort and exfoliating bean powder. It’s formulated in a special way to avoid drying out the skin. This mask is best for people with oily skin who want to soothe any redness while gently exfoliating and absorbing excess sebum. My skin is combination.

How to use:

  • Apply after cleansing (the instructions say to use it on dry face, but that’s pretty harsh. I apply it to slightly damp face with good results)

  • Leave on for 10-15 mins (the official instructions say to massage for 10-15 minutes. My hands would fall off).

  • Gently rinse with water - a konjac sponge also works well for this

  • Follow with the rest of your routine, starting with toner

If I have time, I like using a nice hydrating or nourishing sheet mask after Isntree Real Mugwort Clay Mask for best results. I feel like my skin absorbs everything so well that way.

The mask has an earthy-green color and an interesting texture. The base is creamy clay with visible mugwort and bean inclusions. It’s fun to use because of that. The squeeze tube is a pretty convenient packaging choice, as opposed to the more popular dip jars. I personally like the tube format more, because it’s cleaner. I don’t notice much of a scent.

My impressions

I like this product. It’s quite gentle on my combination skin, but it still works to make my pores appear smaller while gently exfoliating. My skin is softer and smoother right away. To me, it’s quite comparable to AXIS-Y, but with a slightly thicker texture.

I don’t get too many breakouts, but I am prone to redness from simple things like scratching an itch - my skin is very fair and everything shows up on it. Mugwort products, including this mask, do a good job calming that down.

Overall, I’m happy with the Isntree mugwort mask and wouldn’t mind trying other products from that line.
