Isntree Yam Root Vegan Milk Cleanser is a gentle one-step face wash that removes impurities, makeup and sunscreen without drying out or irritating the skin. The star ingredient is yam root extract to soothe the skin and support a healthy barrier. The formula also contains plant extracts of coconut, rice, soybean, oat and sweet almond for extra nourishment.

How to use
Dispense a moderate amount to dry hands
Massage over dry skin in circular motions
Wash off with lukewarm water

The cleanser has a liquid consistency that reminds me of lotion. It doesn’t foam and doesn’t have a scent. Isntree Vegan Milk cleanser features a slippery feeling that I personally enjoy. It reminds me of snail mucin, even though this cleanser is vegan and contains no snail ingredients. This isn’t the first product I have had with yam root (read the Vegreen review here), and both of them remind me of snail mucin texture-wise. Application is easy and everything rinses cleanly without leaving a residue.
My impressions
I’m a huge fan of double cleansing - starting with an oil or a balm and then following with a foaming cleanser. However, my skin gets a little moody and sensitive at times, especially if I overdo it with retinoids, sun exposure, or testing something that doesn’t agree with me. In those instances, it’s great to have a gentle but effective one step cleanser that babies my skin and causes no further irritation.
I use it all over the face, including to remove eye makeup (I don’t wear a lot on a daily basis, just mascara and sunscreen around the eyes), and it seems to work great. Because of the generously sized bottle and a convenient pump, this would also be a good option for quickly removing body sunscreen.
Overall, it’s a win for me. And while I won’t give up double cleansing, I still reach for the Isntree cleanser several times a week.
