107 makes some of my favorite products. As a content creator, I get a fair amount of cosmetics and often give the extras to friends and family, but nobody can pry 107 jars and bottles from my hands. It’s a wonderful brand and nearly everything they make turns into a must have for me.

The 107 Chaga Jelly Low pH Cleanser in the pink tube was my go-to second cleanser for several years. I finished at least three tubes. Any time my skin felt irritated, I reached for it. Gentle, effective, but not joyless - just perfect. A little while ago, the brand came out with a new version, available on Amazon and the brand’s official website.

107 Chaga Jelly Low pH Cleanser (New Version)

How to use

  • Massage a dime-sized amount onto damp skin

  • Rinse

  • Best used in the morning or after a cleansing oil / makeup remover

The Chaga cleanser is packed with aged vinegar (but don’t worry - it doesn’t smell like it), green tea, chaga mushrooms and centella. It has a mild, somewhat earthy smell. Since I do not use cleansers in the mornings, both the original and the new Chaga were my second step at night after oil cleansing.

My impressions

This is a nice, gentle wash, but does not spark joy the way the original did. I can’t even put my finger on what exactly is so different, besides the obvious homogeneous texture and a different color of packaging. And yet the original felt and smelled better somehow, and I always reached for it. I still used up the new version but did not have the same burning love for it. I don’t know how I would have felt if this mint bottle were the first and only 107 cleanser I have tried, but I simply cannot help comparing the two as I write this review.

The good - it’s a gentle formula, rinses clean without residue and leaves the skin clean but not dry. Lovely ingredients list. Great brand with a very nice and responsive owner. The bad? Nothing bad, but I miss the original. Give me back the original. I do not know what made the brand reformulate, but I do know that I was not the only one absolutely obsessed with that pink tube and its contents. Still, if someone asks me for a gentle jelly cleanser, I would recommend the new 107 one.
