Isntree makes some of my favorite products, especially the Yam Root line. The cleanser was one of my favorite finds. Naturally, I had high hopes for the Isntree Yam Root Vegan Milk Toner, available on Amazon, YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT), and Stylevana (code INF10KBH). The vegan milk complex made from oat, rice, and coconut promises to moisturize and strengthen the skin barrier.

The texture is thicker than water but still fairly runny. I rarely use toners in the mornings, so this has been a part of my evening routine. It’s easy to apply, gets absorbed well, and doesn’t leave a sticky residue.
My impressions
There’s nothing wrong with this toner, but it didn’t wow me as much as the cleanser or the cream from the same line. My expectations may have been unrealistically high - I was hoping for the next Dr.Ceuracle Kombucha Essence and was disappointed.
Some people only care about the efficacy of the products, but for me everything is important, including visual appeal. As shallow as that sounds, I don’t like the look of the Isntree Yam toner - it looks like dirty chalk water and doesn’t inspire me to reach for it often. The easiest way I can describe it is Dr.Ceuracle is cream, while Isntree is skim milk… I know, I know, it doesn’t mean it’s a bad toner, but when you have tons and tons of options, a little thing like that can make all the difference.
Is this a bad product? No. It hydrates and plumps and doesn’t irritate the skin. And I will probably finish it off or give it away to one of my friends. But it wouldn’t be the first thing I recommend to someone looking to get into kbeauty.
