Keep Cool Ocean Deep Blue Oil Self Ritual Kit Review

I already had the Keep Cool Ocean Deep Blue Oil in my arsenal, but was curious about the kit that included the rose quartz gua sha. So I entered a giveaway and won. Awesome. The kit can be purchased on* Amazon (this is the official CrediThink store, so all products are authentic). By the way, if you want my tips on getting free kbeauty, watch this video.

Keep Cool Ocean Deep Blue Oil promises to soothe and calm, improve complexion, and create a lasting glow. The beautiful blue color comes from the natural ingredients (not synthetic dyes). The brand says that changes in the color if exposed to direct sunlight are normal and the product is still usable, but mine never changed.

In addition to the oil, this kit includes a rose quartz gua sha massage stone.

How I use the kit:

  • Cleanse and tone the skin

  • Apply essences and serums (if using)

  • Apply several drops of the oil to the face and neck (you want enough slip so the gua sha glides smoothly)

  • Gently massage with the gua sha, paying special attention to the area between the eyebrows and the jaw line (I have a lot of tension there)

  • Apply moisturizer

I do this in the evenings. Not daily, but regularly. Especially if I am stressed - I tend to tense up in the neck, jaw, and other areas of the face and head. It is somewhat difficult to describe the massage technique, so I recommend checking out youtube for some tutorials (I like Gothamista’s). And don’t forget to clean your gua sha (I use water and a mild face cleanser).

My impressions:

I will be the first to admit that I am not a gua sha expert. In fact, I’m kind of late to the party, purchasing my first (stainless steel) gua sha in 2020. I was really curious to see how the rose quartz tool compared to the stainless steel one. Turns out, I like both. The steel is less intimidating for someone as clumsy as I am (it won’t break when dropped), but there is a certain luxury to the quartz. Plus, it’s thicker, so the massage feels different and more gentle.

As far as the oil, it’s a nice addition to my skincare collection, with or without the tool. Oils tend to penetrate the skin deeper than moisturizers and can soften the rough areas. Keep Cool oil contains a blend of natural plant ingredients that work well with my combination skin. A full list can be found at the end. There is a subtle, pleasant scent (probably from the bergamot).

This winter has been extra hard on my skin, both face and body, so I’m reaching for this oil often. The biggest difference I notice is how smooth my skin is. Even if it was rough and dry in the evening, by morning it’s nice and bouncy. I have used the oil on my arms and legs as well (it doesn’t take a lot). If you have sensitive skin, be sure to thoroughly review the ingredients, as sometimes plant extracts can be irritating. I’ve had no issues.

What do you think about facial oils? Do you like them? Which ones are your favorite?
