Klairs recently released a brand new Klairs Gentle Black Fresh Cleansing Oil. I had the original version of it (review here) and liked it. However, that one tended to leave a film on the skin even after being rinsed with water. A foaming cleanser took that right off, so it wasn't a big deal for me, but it bothered a lot of people. So I was super excited to see how the new formula may be different.
Klairs Gentle Black Fresh Cleansing Oil is made without fragrance (yay!), is vegan and cruelty free. A full list of ingredients can be found at the end of the review. It is sold on Wishtrend, YesStyle (use reward code KBHOBBIT for extra savings), and eBay.
If you are not familiar with Korean beauty double cleansing - the purpose of the cleansing oil (aka the first step) is to remove oil-soluble things like makeup and sunscreen. For more information on the steps of the Korean skincare routine, check out this video.
How to use:
Apply with clean dry hands to a dry face
Massage gently
Add water, massage a bit more (the oil will emulsify)
Rinse off
This light, fresh cleansing oil is ideal for combination and oily skin types and those with sensitive skin. It even promises to regulate sebum production.
My impressions
I’ve been using this oil daily for a week, which is plenty of time to see if a cleanser is effective. I love it - it’s perfect for my skin (combination), and I think it will easily work for all skin types. It easily removes makeup (including eye makeup) and sunscreen without drying out the skin. I’ve seen no irritation or other issues. The only thing Klairs Gentle Black Fresh Cleansing Oil doesn’t remove is waterproof mascara. None of my other oils and balms remove that particular mascara either, so it didn't surprise me and isn't an issue.
I love love love that this is fragrance free. I am not against fragrance, but if there’s a fragrance-free variety, I choose that - less chance for irritation.
Overall, I’m very pleased. Whether you loved the original Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil or found it lacking, try this Fresh version - it’s great.
