I love a good cleanser. It’s the first step to my relaxing evening routine, setting the tone for the entire experience. My ideal face wash is gentle and effective but not clinical and still fun to use. I want every skincare step to accomplish its task while being joyful.

Oganacell Derx Cleanser is available on Amazon, Olive Young (discount code KBHOBBIT77), and eBay. It specifically targets the “pleasures” of city life such as dust and pollution and is marketed for sensitive skin. In addition to cleansing, the brand promises gentle exfoliation.

The formula utilizes early breaking technology that melts walnut shell particles upon contact. Another interesting ingredient is DERX™ - a unique combination with five amino acids and three peptides to promote skin regeneration and elasticity.

How to use

  • Dispense desired amount

  • Massage over the skin

  • Rinse

  • Follow with the rest of your routine

I like using this face wash as a second step at night, after a cleansing oil or balm. It creates gentle foam and feels very pleasant on the skin. My face is clean but not stripped. I notice a bit of an herbal scent - not the most pleasant fragrance but not a deal breaker either. It doesn’t linger after I rinse off the product.

The small visible particles must be walnut shells, which understandably makes any 90s baby shudder with memories of St.Ives apricot scrub. However, if I hadn’t read the product description, I wouldn’t have known that’s what they were. I cannot feel them during use at all - the entire cleansing experience is very gentle with 0 scratching or irritation.

My impressions

This has been sitting in my “to try” pile for a few weeks. I’ve been focusing on finishing my open items and not starting too many new products at once. If I had known Oganacell Derx cleanser had such cool packaging, I would have opened it sooner. The pump bottle was hidden by an outer box and didn’t stand out.

I really like this Oganacell cleanser. The pump makes it easy to use even when I’m absolutely exhausted from the day. It does a great job removing anything left behind by the oil cleanser without irritating the skin. Some product info says to avoid the eye area, but I’ve been using it all over the face and around the eyes with no issues.

If I had to get super picky, I would have preferred a different scent (or no scent), but that’s not a deal breaker. Also, the price is quite a bit higher than most cleansers I use. One could try and justify this with the fancy ingredients such as DERX and peptides, but are those really needed in a wash off product? Do they even spend enough time on the skin to be effective? Either way, we all have different budgets and definitions of affordability, and if Oganacell Derx Cleanser is in your budget, it’s definitely worth a try. I would happily get it again and will definitely finish my bottle.
