Rom&nd Zero Matte Lipstick Review

This post contains affiliate links. Product provided by Drama Beauty.

For years and years I mostly tested Korean skincare, but now I’m dabbling in makeup as well. Rom&nd makes some of my favorite lip glosses and tints, so I decided to try their lipsticks. Rom&nd Zero Matte Lipstick Collection promises to provide a velvety light finish without flaking and even smooth out chapped lips.

This collection includes 20 colors (mine is 09 Shell Nude) and is available on Amazon, YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT), StyleKorean, and Drama Beauty (discount code KBHOBBIT).

My impressions

It’s been so long since I had lipstick - most of my small makeup drawer is taken up by lip tints and balms. And I don’t think I’ve ever owned a matte lipstick, so I do not have to compare with this one.

I have mixed feelings about the Rom&nd Zero Matte Lipstick. The color and packaging are both beautiful, no complaints here. I love the embossed &, I haven’t seen that before. The formula is a bit dry. I’m so used to velvet tints that start out somewhat creamy and then set to a more matte finish, but this lipstick starts out matte. It’s not hard to apply, but it’s definitely a different feeling than putting on lip balms or liquid formulas. I don’t see the advertised smoothing of chapped lips, in fact it tends to highlight dry areas and make them more noticeable. However, this lipstick doesn’t actually cause dryness, it simply makes the existing issues a little more noticeable. An easy way to deal with that is applying lip balm in the beginning of my morning routine, so by the time I’m ready to put on lip color my lips are plump and hydrated.

I like the feeling on the lips - no stickiness and no patchiness. It wears off pretty evenly, so I don’t have to reapply throughout the day if I don’t want to. Overall, not a bad product but also not something I’m going to try to get in other colors. I prefer Etude House Fixing Tint (review here).
