SIORIS You Are My Shining Sunscreen Review

This post contains affiliate links. The product provided by Credithink.

I love sunscreen. Well, actually I love protecting my skin from the sun. If there were some magical way to not get premature aging, sun damage, and skin cancer without sunscreen, I would do that. Until that day, I use SPF daily and go through lots of different kinds. I have combination skin with an oily t-zone and dry/normal everything else. I’m very prone to freckles and sunburn easily.

Sioris You Are My Shining Sunscreen sounds amazing on paper - all mineral, cruelty free, reef safe, made with organic ingredients. The SPF is only 35, but that would be enough for my daily needs. I received the sunscreen for free to test; it can be ordered on Amazon (use my affiliate code kbhobbit10 to save on all Credithink offerings).

How to use

  • Apply as the last step before makeup, if you wear makeup

  • Reapply every couple of hours

The sunscreen promises to control shine and mattify the skin with plant extracts (I laugh as I type this - keep reading).

My impressions

It’s rare that I hate a product. I like most of the things, really like/love a few, and dislike some. But I absolutely, passionately hate Sioris You Are My Shining Sunscreen.

I wanted to love it so much, because again - sounds great on paper. But this formula leaves my face a greasy, shiny mess. There’s less of a white cast after the sunscreen sets, but that sticky, greasy feeling doesn’t go away. I lasted a couple of hours at home and then couldn’t stand it anymore. I actually went through the trouble of cleansing my face and redoing my entire morning skincare routine just to get rid of the grease.

There are dewy formulas (like Cosrx aloe sunscreen - review here) that don’t feel greasy or sticky. But the Sioris one was a mess. No thanks. I’m not a product waster, so I will use this up on the tops of my feet when I go on walks with the kids (I made a mistake of not protecting that part a couple of years ago and then sported a weird foot tan until winter). This is too greasy to use on the arms or legs - I would stick to everything!

I suppose the product name - Sioris You Are My Shining - referred to the greasy shine it gives my skin. At least it’s named appropriately. If you want another mineral sunscreen that’s reef safe, non-nano, and actually feels super nice on the skin, try this make p:rem one - also sold by Credithink, so you can still use kbhobbit10 to save a bit more.
