SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Light Cleansing Oil Review

I love double cleansing - starting with an oil or balm before moving onto a foaming wash. It’s a gentle and relaxing way to remove sunscreen, makeup, and the general stress of the day before applying evening skincare. My current first cleanser is SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Light Cleansing Oil. It’s available on Amazon, YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT), Stylevana (code INF10KBH), Olive Young (code KBHOBBIT77), Jolse, iHerb (code CWN6107), and StyleKorean. Yes, almost every shop carries this, and for a good reason.

SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Light Cleansing Oil promises effortless removal of makeup and other impurities. It contains six botanical oils to purify the pores without drying or irritating the skin.

SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Light Cleansing Oil

How to use

  • Massage over dry face with clean, dry hands

  • Add a bit of water and massage some more - the oil will emulsify / turn white

  • Rinse

  • Follow with a foaming cleanser and the rest of your routine

The oil is liquid enough to comfortably dispense through the pump (or to be shaken out of the travel sized bottle), but not runny or watery. Despite having some aromatics like bergamot and rose oil in the ingredients, it doesn’t smell like much of anything. I use this all over the face, including the eyes, and have no irritation or other unpleasant side effects.

My impressions

I’ve had the full size of this cleansing oil for quite some time (SKIN1004 sent me a GIANT package of goodies, watch this reel), but if sealed it doesn’t expire for a few years, so it’s been waiting its turn. I’m careful about how many things I open at once, because once you crack that seal, the period-after-opening timer starts ticking. I just ran out of my Hada Labo cleansing oil (review here), so I opened SKIN1004 next.

I already know and love this cleansing oil, because I’ve had the travel size more than once and took it on several trips - most recently to Las Vegas, Denver, and a random cabin in Nebraska City.

I have combination skin with early signs of aging. My daily makeup is minimal - some powder and mascara. I always wear SPF. I’ve tested SKIN1004 cleansing oil with no makeup at all, as well as with some “heavier” (for me) looks with eyeshadow, eyeliner, bb cream, blush, etc. It always performs well and doesn’t leave any residue behind. It’s an ideal travel oil, because no additional eye makeup remover is required, at least for the makeup that I use. This should work for all skin types and is a great first cleanser to try.
