Laneige Glowy Makeup Serum Review
Despite being a “fiery redhead” with a July birthday, I genuinely despise Summer, heat, and the sun. What can be worse than sunburn, sweat (your own and sometimes other people’s), and makeup that’s melting off? Well, Korean beauty can at least help with that last part.
What this serum can do:
Give the skin a healthy glow (not an oily sheen!)
Support the water-oil balance and a healthy skin barrier with ceramides
Prolong the “life” of makeup
Work as a primer, making the skin texture more even
Even though I’m not a fan of the color pink, the aesthetic appeal of this product is undeniable. The glass jar comes with a convenient dropper and is filled with a shimmery, pink serum. The shimmer comes from the natural mineral particles in the substance. Don’t worry, you won’t shine like Edward in the sunlight (a Twilight reference, in case you are not familiar). Instead, you will glow as if you got the best sleep of your life the night before and eat nothing but organic fruits and vegetables gathered by magical unicorns. Perfect.
How to use (pay attention):
Apply 1-2 drops after sunscreen
That’s right, even though it’s a “serum”, it is applied directly before the makeup step. I let my sunscreen fully absorb (usually while brushing teeth), and then apply this serum.
I’m in love. I bought the Laneige Glowy Makeup Serum a few weeks ago and have been using it almost daily ever since. I wanted to publish a review as soon as possible because I think many people will benefit from this lovely makeup aid in the warm seasons. I do plan to continue to use it all year long.
I don’t always use BB cream, but even without foundation, this serum is a must. I top it off with a very light dusting of powder and my combination skin is oil-free and looks fresh the entire day. I’m not sure how I lived without this product up until now. I much prefer it to the more traditional primers that come in a tube.
Perhaps not related, but my pores have been looking much better lately too. I haven’t changed much in my routine other than adding this serum. Maybe whatever makes my skin oil-free the whole day also contributes to an improved appearance of pores. It would make sense that a regulated sebum production keeps the pores clearer.
