Dr Different Cica Metal Cream Review

Spoiler alert - this is one of my favorite moisturizers of all time.

Dr Different Cica Metal Cream is made with soothing centella, madecassoside, and something referred to as “derma metals” - zinc and copper. It can be used by itself or in conjunction with retinal/retinol products such as Vita-A (review here) or Forte to minimize the drying effects of topical vitamin A. It’s best to use copper ingredients on separate nights from retinoids. The cream is available on Olive Young and Amazon.

While centella and its derivatives are fairly well known for their calming properties, metals in skincare is a new concept (at least to me). Copper and zinc can aid in regenerating the skin and help with blemishes and other troubled areas. If you’ve overdone it with actives or accidentally used something that gave you a bad reaction, this cream might be a perfect product to get the skin back on track.

How to use:

  • Apply at the end of your routine

  • Gently massage in

  • Follow with SPF in the morning

The texture is beautiful - creamy and nourishing but not greasy or oily. There’s no sticky residue or any other unpleasant sensations. My combination absolutely loved it. I do not recall any scent.

My impressions

I have combination skin that really suffers during the Fall and Winter. I was also using the Dr Different Vita-A at the same time. This Cica cream is amazing. It’s rich without being heavy, nourishing without grease, and oh so soothing. If my hands were in an awful shape, I even put a bit on them to heal the skin overnight.

The price tag is not so friendly (around $45), but I only need a tiny squeeze for a whole face and neck. It can be used as a spot treatment on breakouts as well, yet I prefer to apply to the entire face. I kept reaching for the tube over and over and eventually ran out (sniff). I rarely repeat products, because there are so many wonderful ones to try, but I would 100% get this cream again. The current packaging looks a little different than what I had, but the formula stayed the same.

Dr Different Cica Metal Cream did a wonderful job at soothing any redness and irritation, moisturizing the skin without aggravating breakouts, and minimizing the drying effects of retinoid use. Lovely all around.
